Well, I finally got into it today.

 Here's the culprit.

The other side was on its' way out too. Exactly the same thing.

I discovered, quite obviously that this was not a Targetmaster from whatever era, but it at least has the heavy block. But it looks like some cheesy head gaskets are the cause of it all.

Good job,  you must have been happy when you saw that gasket (in a "at least I know for sure what's wrong" kind of way).
I hope Vera's recovery is dramatic!

Today is cleaning, and replacing the valve seals. Maybe some reassembly if I can muster it. My back was killing me after I got it all apart yesterday.

I'm sure once the wound has been closed, she will have a dramatic recovery. Maybe even up to going to the cabin for a spell.

On Saturday I got to it, got the basics all back together.

But about 15 minutes shy of getting it together enough to start it, I had to quit because of some sever stomach cramps that set in. I finally got over them in the early hours of Sunday morning. I took the day off yesterday, but finished up the little bit so that I could start it up. She fired right up, no problems.

Awesome! I'll bet you feel a lot better now that you'll be driving it soon.

I had to get it running. Then I know all is good. Now I have to button up the exhaust, change the oil and put all the front accessory stuff back together. But the worst is now over.

I'd like to have it together so we can go to the cabin next weekend with it.

It's all back together now. I finished yesterday aftenoon. I filled toi coolant with no issues at all, put the cap on tight and it's all good. No signs of coolant blowing out the exhaust.

We ran some errands with it as a road test, and it ran perfectly.    All done now!!

Now today I'm going to concentrate on cleaning up the mess.

Fantastic!
I didn't realize you weren't at work yesterday or I probably would have swung by.

I put about 1,000 KMS on her this weekend and it ran great and didn't use a drop of coolant. However it likes to stall when hot, the idle is too low. Perhaps it's an EGR issue? I'll have to check into that. According to the scanner all is good.

An animal Mike ,I forgot you replaced the head gaskets on that engine.

The thought of all that hard work makes me cringe.

Yeah yeah an old thread , been slow lately around here so just for laughs ( just humor me ).

Yeah, good to reveiw it. That was about as ambitious as I ever got in an in the driveway repair. And she's still running good. No antifreeze consumptiom at all.

Now, to get that roof done........
