This is a popular thread on another forum I'm on, so let's give it a go here.
I didn't do anything today however I bought an 82 Fleetwood Brougham D elegance that needed some work. So far I have replaced the heater core, done the brakes, replaced the blower motor and battery and have been cleaning it up as it has a 3 year old paint job that has never been waxed. The interior is filthy but the upholstery is good and a shampoo should do wonders. Next week I'll be fixing a fuel leak (I hope it's just the fuel filter as that is where the gas is coming from) and I need to put new tires on it before the snow flies as well as a good coating of oil underneath and I'm good to go. I'll post some pics as I progress.
So what did you do to your Cadillac today?

I checked the air in all four tires and put in 28 pounds in the front and 29 in the rear. Tightened up the valve covers due to a slight leak. Made sure all fluids are at the levels where they should be and cleaned up the interior where needed. Now I have to get ready for the mice who want to have a living room in the interior and in the motor area too. This is my silver 76 Coupe de Ville which is in real good top shape in and out with 223,000 miles. I had the motor rebuilt with very high quality parts about 65,000 miles ago. Well now it's going to go to sleep for 5 months and I'll run around with my 89 Chev Caprice and 86 Pontiac Sunbird Turbo. Everett

Yep, the time they have to go away for hibernation is a sad day. Not opnly being without them, but you knopw you're on the doorstepp of all the foul, miserable weather that winter brings. But it's a necessary evil in order to save them for enjoyment many years to come.
I really look forward to the beginning of April to retreive the Cadillac. But until then I have the '88 Eldo and the '90 Brougham to do yeoman service through the bad months.

Mequire's makes a leather and vinyl treatment that I have used. But I find that pretty much any leather treatment works good. Another possibility would be linseed oil? Has anyone ever used that to treat leather or vinyl? I've heard in the old days it was used extensively to preserve saddles and leather furniture.

Simonize protectant is good for any type of vinyl. Just clean it good first.

Spray Nine is great for cleaning vinyl before putting protectant on, and it's cheap too.

Ok, i sold my DTS. Was going to go for the CTS but got a really good deal on a 2011 Malibu LTZ with 5000 kms on it. Black on Black. Brought it back from the US last week. It only has the 2.4 in it but it goes great on the highway and gets great gas mileage. I havent given up on Cadillacs, i still have the SRX. Low and behold, my neighbour just pick up his 2011 CTS, Black on Black. Go figure! Joe

Looks like some troiuble with the Brougham. It seems that one of the head gaskets has gone. It started using coolant last week, and has since gone through a considerable amount. So until I can get it fixed, it will have to sit, and only be used for short and necessary trips where the Eldo won't suffice.
It's just not something I can do in this weather outside. So either I wait until spring, and try to get by with one car, or pay a shop to do it. That's what worries me, having someone else do it and making things worse, and it costing me a fortune in the end.
And yesterday, I took both cars to be oiled.

Perhaps someone might have a shop they can let you use for a day?
