We took the Eldo on a 250 mile round trip to the Georgetown 18th Annual BIA show on Main St. Georgetown.  There were a little over 200 cars.  This is a GREAT show.  Extremely well organized - there is a meeting spot, you are assigned a number - then caravan onto the Main St. where the parking is perfectly organized.  Many high value driver's draws, live rock band (and they were GOOD!), 50/50 draw (last night $1600 each way) with all proceeds going to the local hospital.  Most of the shops stay open until at least 9 (show goes to 10).  Many restaurants to chose from as well as the usual grilled items on the street.  Hundreds of spectators to meet and talk with.

This was our 2nd time out, and both times we took home the award for farthest distance traveled.

I took Chester to work yesterday and 5 of us went out for lunch. I realized that the headliner is starting to get bad enough that tall people in the back have to hold it up to keep it from touching their head.
I guess I can't really put it off much longer. One of the sail panels is coming untucked at the edge as well. Hopefully I can just re-tuck the sail panel.

I've wanted to do this for a while now. I've repaired the roof but put off colouring it because it's usually too windy here
to do it outside. I'm going to set up my canopy over the car tomorrow and mask the off roof then colour it in the afternoon
when the air will be warmer.

The muffler on my Eldo rotted out so I got it replaced this week at my local garage.  He told me the one that he pulled out was cheap and very thin.  What a difference!  Car can barely be heard now.  I'm a happy camper.

Great! I had to put a new muffler on Chester when I got it.  As far as I know, Peach is the only car I've got with the original exhaust from front to back.

I can't remember that last time I got a new muffler either, not counting the exhaust system I replaced on the Eldorado when I got it 10 years ago,
and it still isn't showing any signs of rust yet.
I think almost all new cars today come with a stainless steel exhaust system right from the factory.

A decent quality muffler can make all the difference in sound quality.

When I bought Vera, it always had a rumble, them the muffler went. A good muffler was installed, and it made all the difference in the world on how it sounded. Very quiet.

My '94 Fleetwood still has all of the original exhaust on it. Stainless will last damned near forever. Even the low grade stainless used for OEM.

I was sitting at a red light yesterday in my Fleetwood. A guy in a clapped out CRV hit a new Charger at full speed and pushed it right into me. My rear bumper is bent and pushed in 2 inches. Left rear quarter panel buckled and filler panels are collapsed. Everyone was OK except for a few aches and pains. My neck was a bit stiff but I'm fine now.
I hope the insurance isn't going to write the car off. Both other cars were destroyed.

When my 93 was rear-ended the insurance tried to write the car off, and mine had less damage than that.

Whatever happens, I plan on keeping her on the road. If it is a write off I'll try to get as much as possible to get it fixed.

Damn!
I was worried about the same thing when Chester got hit 4-5 years ago.
I hope you get the news you want. What insurance provider do you have?

Sorry to hear that Gareth.
If it's just the bumper that was damaged you should be in good shape. Who carries your insurance, Haggarty ?
If you remember a couple of years ago, my Eldorado was damaged when an Audi did a lane change without
looking first. There was over $6000 damage to my front end and Haggarty wouldn't write off so I don't think
yours will be written off either.
That's the '94 isn't it ? I'll  talk to Tony in the morning. He has a stash of parts and he might have a bumper.

Thanks Ron. I bought that bumper last summer and it appears to be bent. I'm also going to need filler pannels, tail light bezels and the left rear quarter pannel is buckled in. I know a guy that can fix that.
I don't have collecter car insurance. I'm with Royal& Sun Alliance.
