How did Motortrend obtain a 0.808 g average lateral acceleration on GR70-15 tires in 1977? Maybe the tires were "optimized" before delivery.

My recollection is later B-car reviews (with the sport suspension and 225 width tires) were all under 0.8 g except for the Impala SS models with 255 tires. Good skid-pad, slalom and braking performance has a lot to do with tires, and it's unfortunate that most of the current design choices are made to impress automotive reviewers at the track rather than provide a practical solution for a low cost, comfortable ownership experience.
